Prachanda Appointed Prime Minister of Nepal.




Chairman of CPN Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has been appointed as Prime Minister. President Bidhya Devi Bhandari appointed Pushpa Kamal Dahal as the Prime Minister on Sunday evening.

On Sunday, Prachanda submitted a claim of the Prime Minister with the support of his party CPN-Maoist, CPN-UML, Rastrita Swotantra Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Janata Samajwadi Party, Janmat Party and Rastriya Unmukti Party.
After independent MPs Prabhu Shah, Kiran Kumar Shah and Amresh Kumar Singh also supported him, Prachanda got the support of 169 MPs in the 275-member House of Representatives.
Since none of the parties got majority in the election in the House of Representatives, President Bidhya Devi Bhandari gave time till 5 pm on Sunday to form a coalition government according to Article 76 (2) of the Constitution.
Within the time given by the President, Prachanda submitted his claim to the Prime Minister with the support of 170 MPs.
Tika Dhakal, communications expert of the President's Office informed that Prachanda will take oath as the Prime Minister on Monday at 4 pm.


Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also known as "Prachanda," has been appointed as the Prime Minister of Nepal. He was chosen by President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Sunday after presenting a claim for the position with the support of his party, the CPN Maoist Center, and several other political parties.



 These parties, including the CPN-UML, the National Independence Party, and the National Democracy Party, along with independent MPs, were able to secure the support of a total of 169 members of the 275-member House of Representatives. As no single party won a majority in the recent elections, President Bhandari gave Prachanda until 5pm on Sunday to form a coalition government according to Article 76 (2) of the Constitution. He was able to meet this deadline, and will be sworn in as Prime Minister on Monday at 4pm.
